Stephen Fung of Future Looks was Crowned the Victor of the Fastest
Event at the 2011 Consumer Electronics Show Sponsored by TigerDirect
MIAMI--(BUSINESS WIRE)--
TigerDirect and CA teamed up at the 2011 Consumer Electronics Show on
January 6th, for the 14th Annual Build Your
Own PC Race for Charity, hosted by TigerDirect at
the Wynn Las Vegas Resort. The race determined who could assemble a
computer based on the AMD Phenom II X61090T Black Edition processor in
the least amount of time. This year, thirty top tech journalists from
major media outlets in the technology and PC industry raced against each
other to build a PC to benefit the National Center for Missing and
Exploited Children.
“With nearly $3 Million given to charities around the country to date,
our 14th annual event was another success,” said Gilbert
Fiorentino, Chief Executive of the Systemax Technology Products Group.
“Record attendance only solidifies this race as a premier event at CES.”
There were more than 600 guests in attendance on hand to cheer the
racers to the finish. Stephen Fung of Future Looks took first
place this year with a record time of 4 minutes and 9 seconds, beating
last year’s time by nearly three minutes. The National Center for
Missing and Exploited Children will benefit from the $10,000 first place
cash prize.
"This was my third year participating in the race,” said Stephen Fung.
“I came in with a strategy and was determined to build the computer in
record time. I consider the Build Your Own PC Race a highlight at CES.”
In second place, first time racer Josh Martin from Techware Labs
had a time of 4:44 and in third place with a build time of 5:30 was Al
Hernandez of Fox Morning News. The National Center for Missing and
Exploited Children will also receive $2,500 and $1,000 in their names,
as well as all 30 computers and related accessories from the race.
